Want to have fun during Summer, but really don’t want to make your wallet lose weight too? I know exactly how that feels! I live in SYDNEY! Beaches, large concerts, parties, and more parties! I mean, other than partying all Summer, what else can you do??

Summer really can’t be wasted, so don’t spend it at home. There have been countless of summers where I stayed at home because I didn’t have the money to have fun, but that changed when I was determined to try things out and have my fun without breaking the wallet! So here’s a list that I’ve compiled myself, enjoy!

Number 1. Visit a park!

Of course, I’m not talking about a mini children’s playground (which you can go if you want to), I’m talking bigger parks where you can have picnics and play around with your friends. One of my group’s favourite site is Parramatta lake.

It’s a giant park where there’s a lake for you to swim in, BBQs and plenty of grass and tables for you to spend your afternoon in! My favourite part is definitely the hiking trails, which brings me to the next point!

Number 2: Hike!!

I love hiking! You get close to nature and sometimes come across breath-taking views as well! If you’re not a hiking person, then definitely give it a shot! You’ll love it! If you’re a hiker already, challenge yourself and find new places to hike! Saying “I’ve hiked all the hiking trails in the city” is honestly a huge achievement!

Number 3: Local event

I know some events are quite expensive, but there are also cheap or free ones if you search around! One of the biggest local event in our area is the Granny Smith. It’s an event where we celebrate the founding of the Granny Smith (Green) Apples.

Although the items and food aren’t necessarily cheap, it is a lot of fun walking around with your friends as you check the numerous stores available. We even have fireworks after that! So definitely look for yours!

Number 4: Bike

What better way to enjoy Summer while keeping fit than biking? Not only is it environmentally friendly, but you might also end up in a secret part of town where you’ve never been before! Extend the fun and have a biking event with your friends! The more the merrier!

Number 5: Game night

Me and my group of friends LOVE game night. It’s actually one of the most common ways we spend our time together! No need for those expensive concerts or events! Just wear your comfy clothes and have fun with your friends!

We play anything from board games like Cards against Humanity, Uno to games that require a device like the Nintendo Switch, Wii or Xbox! Just having fun and eating pizza is probably the only perfect way to spend the night!

Number 6: Go to the Beach

This may not be achievable if you live far from the beach, but if you do, take advantage of it! Although it takes around 30 mins to go to the beach for us, it is a must do in summer! The crashing waves and the golden sand! It truly is one of the best ways to have fun without spending too much money! P.s. bring your own food! Shops around the beach are usually super overpriced!

Number 7: Go stargazing

We actually went stargazing once! 2 years ago, me and my friends went on a holiday to the coast side where we stayed there for a week. Fortunately for us, we happen to go during the time when there was a shooting star event!

We all stayed up from 12am to 3am, waiting for the shooting stars to light up the sky. I must admit, it was truly one of the best moments of my life! Lying on the beach chairs on the balcony while we spot the falling stars was the best way to spend our summer nights!

Number 8: Yoga event

Not everyone is into competitive sports, so why don’t you have a yoga party? Everyone could attempt to follow someone or the TV while they do various yoga poses. It is so much fun watching your friends try their hardest to maintain their pose and when they come over to help you out too! Not only is it basically free (if you do it at home), it’s good for your body too!

Number 9: Summer Sleepover

Who said sleepovers are only for children? My friends are absolutely into sleepovers (we’re all 20/21 by the way)! We once had a Harry Potter Movie Marathon Sleepover! I told them I haven’t watched Harry Potter before (I know, crazy) and the sleepover was suggested!

So sleepovers are definitely NOT for children only! You can even make it themed! Ours was Harry Potter themed, but you could always go for whatever movie marathon you plan to watch. Comfy PJs, food, and friends. No expensive cinemas can ever beat that!

Number 10: Sports!

Yoga isn’t your thing and your friends are all sports maniacs? No problem, make it a sports event then! You can make it competitive and try to beat each other in the games! Whether it’s swimming, football, cricket, basketball or even just intense exercises like planking, I’m sure it’ll be a lot of fun!

I hope you found this post helpful in deciding where to go or what to do this summer! If you have any other ideas, let me know in the comments down below! Well then, bye for now!

    1. I completely agree with you! It’s always there, yet we kept ignoring it! I hope more people can pause a bit and take a moment to admire our beautiful sky! Thanks for dropping by!

  1. It would be nice to know what the host wants out of a guest when it comes to party invites. I like that you are mindful of any potential allergies and such. Oooh, letting guests know about bringing extra clothes or any of the likes would be super helpful! Thanks for sharing all of these tips!

  2. What a great list of inexpensive and interesting activities to do over the Summer, or anytime! I enjoy hiking and doing yoga year round. Our local Farmers Markets are held in local parks each week, and often feature different live bands. Nothing like kicking back in the park on a blanket with a picnic basket, some wine, good company & great music!

Hiking and heading to the park are two of my favourite ways to spend a warm day. This post has made me really want to organise a games night and sleepover too! (And me and my friends are nearly 30!)
